In my current position I serve as the resident DevOps Engineer. Due to my dedicated skillset in AWS, and DevOps technologies I am entrusted with system administration tasks such as assigning user permissions, updating security groups, and managing website availability via auto-scaling.
After attending AWS re:Invent in 2022 as an ABW Grant Recipient, I became a grant alumni and was eligible to apply for the 2023 mentorship program. I was thrilled to learn that my application blew the ABW team away, and they were delighted to accept me as an alumni mentor for the ABW Grant program at AWS re:Invent 2023!
- Responsible for ensuring the grant participants in my mentor group were prepared and supported to have the best re:Invent experience possible.
- Conducted online calls prior to the event to share my experience from the previous year and answer any questions.
- Arranged on site meetings for us to regroup and gather during the wonderful chaos that is AWS re:Invent!
- Advised my mentees on how to navigate Las Vegas, and make the most of their time based on their goals and aspirations.
- Collaborated with a group of global participants to improve the Opensearch service.
- Learnt the fundamentals of Opensearch and it’s use cases. This program also exposed me to a side of Terraform new to me, managing the Opensearch provider and therefore learning some Golang too.
- I served as a member of Generation UK’s Youth Advisory Board from October 2019, to October 2020.
